Diana Ross - San Diego, California
We had the opportunity of a lifetime to see a living legend, Diana Ross, in concert at the Rady Shell at Jacobs Park inSan Diego. It was a fantastic performance by a singer who is approaching her 79th birthday. She sang all her greatest hits plus some songs from her new album. The packed audience was energized, dancing and singing along to many of her older songs. She looked wonderful on stage and would have continued the concert had she not been told at the last moment that there was a curfew and the show had to end at 10:00 p.m. It was well worth the visit to see her perform.
This event satisfied two goals for me: seeing Diana Ross once I knew she was coming to San Diego, and experiencing a performance at the Rady Shell.
The Rady Shell is located on Embarcadero Marina Park South along San Diego Bay. It features outdoor seating that offers an impressive view of the San Diego cityscape. It opened on August 6, 2021, and is operated by the San Diego Symphony. From the time I first learned of its existence, I wanted to attend an event there.
