Bridgetown After Dark - Barbados
Barbados celebrates its Independence throughout November, with official celebrations on November 30. During this time, the island comes alive with festivities, decorations, and vibrant illuminations. Bridgetown is beautifully lit in blue and gold—the national colors—with strands strung across prominent buildings and historic structures throughout the city.
I had the rare opportunity to visit the island several years ago during early November and explore Bridgetown after dark. I was in awe of what I experienced. I particularly loved the lighting around the marina, which reflected off the water and illuminated the small yachts anchored there. The lighting on the Parliament Buildings was equally stunning, with a layout that was simply beautiful.

The Right Excellent Errol Walton Barrow
He became the first Prime Minister of Barbados, on November 30, 1966 when the island gained its independence from Britain. Prior to independence the position was designated as Premier of Barbados.
During his tenure as Prime Minister his title was “The Right Honorourable” because he was appointed to the Privy Council of the United Kingdom in 1969. The title “The Right Excellent” was posthumously assigned when he was named as one of the nation’s 11 National Heroes.
