Main Street - Huntington Beach, California

Tuesday, August 4, 2026 - We had a 1:15 PM business appointment in the area this Tuesday afternoon. It being Tuesday, it was the day for the weekly farmers market. This always cause changes to the traffic pattern and parking rules. We got in early enough to avoid being affected.

After our business was concluded, we had dinner at Duke’s on the pier - this has become a regular mode of operation for many years. I had the usual parmesan, macadamia nut crusted fish, which is always great. Some random client at the restaurant thought it was a good idea to ask for my iPhone to take our photo. I think she saw a relaxed beach setting and wanted to capture it, with us in it. The photo was good.

After dinner we walked the pier - another favorite habit whenever we are in the area. There was a lot of activity with some heavy machinery in the beach as workers tore down all the structures that were in place for the one-week US Open, surfing championships that concluded on Sunday. It was a busy place. Lots of people were on the beach and lots of local surfers in the water, but there were also very dangerous rip tides and announcements from lifeguards to beach goers were constantly on the public address system. We even saw a rescue by lifeguards of a young surfer who got into difficulties.

They were doing some remodeling work on the pier. The bathroom is a major beneficiary, in addition there are adding restaurant on the pier exactly opposite the same restroom. It is always pleasant and relaxing to walk that pier.
